What a lovely day, searching for a wonderful world in the hard times.

You might know sonic alchemist’s Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie better as Sigma, the British Drum and Bass DJ and production duo. With 3 million singles sold, 4 hit records and 2 platinum awards to date, they never sound anything less than vital and inspired. There is no doubt that their pulsating batch of tunes will sound right at home whether they are filling Spotify playlists or nightclub dancefloors.

Hello Sigma, hope you’re doing well! Your latest single ‘Forever’ is out now and it’s a great tune. Are you working on anything else at the moment?
Hey – yes for sure, we’re always in the studio working. It never really stops and that’s how we like it. We’re on the road a lot playing shows as well which is amazing, we get to travel to so many places.

You are very successful and established as of today, but I guess you have had some rough times as well. Was there any point where you thought you were going to give up? As a duo, has it been helpful to have someone else who understands what you’re going through?
Literally, just before we wrote “Nobody To Love” we were about to pack it all in and get proper jobs. We sat in the studio together and had a very serious conversation about how much longer we could do this for, then a few weeks later NBTL came out, it was a bit of a whirlwind, to be honest, a great one of course.
It’s been really important for our careers to be able to lean on someone in times of hardship and especially someone going through exactly the same thing. It definitely made it easier for us.

How did you overcome that challenging time? What advice would you give a friend when they’re feeling overwhelmed?
We had each other and good people around us, who really believed in what we were doing.
Remember everything always finally passes and sometimes it’s important to take a step back from the situation and do something different and get a clear perspective on what you’re doing.

What would constitute a ‘perfect’ day for you?
When positive things happen, you enjoy what you’re doing. And you have a stress free day.

For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
We are grateful for so many things: our health, our families, which always come first. And secondly that we’re able to do a job that we love, with a great friend and also the team we have around us.

What three songs lift your spirits?
Dave Brubeck – The City is Crying
Louis Armstrong – What a Wonderful World
Bill Withers- Lovely Day

Do you have a motivational quote you swear by?
You can’t fail if you’re doing something you love.

Here at The Mind Map, we not only want to offer mindfulness resources but also exercise and nutrition-related ones. What do you eat to stay healthy? Do you have a daily routine of exercise?
We eat a lot of fresh soups at the moment and we are both cutting back on the amount of meat we eat. Also plenty of fluids throughout the day and we try and go to the gym or do some form of exercise four times a week.

Some of the nicest memories are those from our childhood – can you share one with us that makes you particularly happy?
Cameron- being able to go out into the woods and play all day and not having anything to worry about.
Joe- for me it would have to be family time.

Complete this sentence: “Ace mental health for me means…”
Having positive vibes around you on a day to day bases.
