Katherine Staveley, 18, from Middleton is a photographer studying at Berry College. We met her in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and discussed her friends and family, Manchester music and how much the city means to her.

What are your plans for today?
I’m just going round taking pictures for my college course.

What are you listening to at the moment?
The Smiths and Joy Division, y’know Manchester music.

What are you reading?
I don’t really read a lot of books. I read the odd magazine, like NME and film mags.

Are you watching anything at the moment?
I’ve started watching Stranger Things cos all my friends keep telling me to watch it.

What would constitute a perfect day for you?
Spending it with family or friends; getting about, seeing stuff and doing stuff.

For what in life do you feel most grateful?
My family and friends just because I’m always happy when I’m with them. They know what you’re like, and know how to cheer you up.

Who inspires you?
Morrissey.

Complete the sentence, “Ace mental health for me means…”
Being happy, getting my college work done and having everything on time.

What do you do to stay mentally healthy?
Eat food I like. Do some shopping, I come to Manchester a lot, I like being in the city centre with everything going on around me.
