21-year-old Noonie Baig is a fine art student. We met her in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and talked about Captain Beefheart and following the Sufi religion.

What are your plans for today?
I’m gonna go to my mates’ house, drink some juice and go back home. Not very exciting.

Are you studying or working?
I’m studying Fine Art and I’ve got a job at a restaurant.

What are you listening to at the moment?
Faust, White Fence, and Captain Beefheart.

What’re you reading?
I’m reading like ten different books. I’m reading the Sufi Path of Knowledge, Allen Ginsberg poems, A Clockwork Orange.

What’re you watching at the moment?
Black Books, love Dylan Moran.

What would constitute a perfect day for you?
Fruit in the sun.

For what in life do you feel most grateful?
Love.

Complete the sentence, “Ace mental health, for me, means…”
Just being yourself.

What do you do to try and stay mentally healthy?
I meditate and I follow the Sufi religion in an albeit hedonistic way. I do yoga sometimes and paint.

Who inspires you and why?
Ai Weiwei. He just doesn’t give a fuck and he sticks to his intentions.
