In their slacker alt-rock, Carpetgarden casts themselves as an anti-hero who finally gets their day.

We caught up with the 20 year old Californian to learn about how lockdown has played out . . .

How has the pandemic affected your mental health?

Very badly, lol

Are you doing anything differently to look after your mental health during this period?

I’ve been trying to think more positively.

Trying to practice self care when I have the energy.

What are you looking forward to doing once things improve?

I’m looking forward to seeing all the shows I was supposed to see before quarantine, haha!

What new TV, films, music or books have you discovered during lockdown that you’d recommend?

Anime: zombieland saga Films: marebito (2004) Music: F the World – Dorian Electra

What advice would you give to 16 year old you?

To keep doing what i’m doing and that my identity is valid.

If you had to draw a pie chart for what keeps you mentally well – what would it look like (ie 20% good sleep, 20% connection, 20% medication, 40% medication)

20% sleep, 20% pornhub, 20% medication, 20% friends, 20% weed.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about art, I love creating and seeing other peoples creations.

I love what the human mind can come up with.

Tell us something not many people know about you.

I have ADHD, it makes it hard to focus (esp during quarantine) and creates a lot of awkward situations when I meet new people.
